About Mount Wise Dental Practice

Mount Wise Dental PracticeThe Mount Wise Dental Practice began life as Ashton & Prideaux Dental Surgeons, treating the first patient on 9th March 1985.

The practice owners share one surgery. Bridget Ashton usually works on Monday and Tuesday. Malcolm Prideaux works in the surgery for the rest of the week. Over the years this has been an ideal arrangement for them as they shared the responsibility for raising their family.

In 1994 a second surgery was opened, followed by a third in 2007. These are now used by dentists undergoing a period of postgraduate training. Such has been the calibre of these young practitioners that most have gained a further dental qualification, with one having gained his medical qualification as part of training to become a consultant in Oral Surgery.

In 2003 the practice gained ‘Investors in People’ status, which we still hold today, and in 2006 we gained the BDA Good Practice standard.

Mount Wise Dental Practice currently cares for around two-and a half thousand NHS patients, as well as a number of private patients.  We are involved with the local community, and our staff can often be seen at health promotion events in the area.

Basketball

Plymouth Marjons BasketballThe Prideaux family have been keen basketball fans for over 12 years now, with the three boys playing, and Malcolm a qualified referee.  As a practice we sponsor the Plymouth Marjon Basketball development teams, who encourage people of all abilities and from all backgrounds to become involved in the sport.

We are keen to encourage all players to wear professionally fitted mouthguards during training and matches. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have about this, and give details of the costs involved.
